Fentanyl
drug tests

Instant drug tests can quickly identify this synthetic opioid. Fentanyl urine drug test, which is used as a preliminary screening test does not require any instruments or laboratory analysis. In human urine, our instant drug tests identify Fentanyl and its metabolites at 200 ng/mL.

Fentanyl can be detected in urine for up to 24 hours, but it is unlikely to be detected after 72 hours.

What is
Fentanyl?

Fentanyl is a strong analgesic. It is an opioid, like morphine, codeine, oxycodone (oxys) and methadone. Fentanyl is often prescribed as a slow-release adhesive for people with severe, long-term pain. It can be very effective and safe when used this way. Fentanyl is significantly stronger than other opioids, up to 100 times stronger than morphine, and very dangerous if used improperly. Even small amounts can lead to overdose and death.

Fentanyl is sold as a powder or a pill, or it can be cut into (combined with) other substances like heroin or cocaine. Because this form of fentanyl is frequently offered as a different substance, people unknowingly swallow, snort, or inject it. Many people have died as a result of overdosing because they were unaware that the drugs they were taking were contaminated with fentanyl.

Pharmaceutical fentanyl and illicitly made fentanyl are the two forms of fentanyl. Both of these substances are classified as synthetic opioids. Doctors use pharmaceutical fentanyl to alleviate extreme pain, particularly after surgery and in advanced-stage cancer.

However, the majority of recent fentanyl-related overdose cases have been attributed to illicitly made fentanyl, which is sold on the black market for its heroin-like effects. Because of its extraordinary strength, it is frequently added to other drugs, making them cheaper, more powerful, more addictive, and more hazardous.

Is fentanyl addictive?

Fentanyl, like any other drug, has the potential to become addictive. If you take opioids frequently, you may build a tolerance to them and need more and more to have the same benefits. Fentanyl can lead to mental and physical dependence.

When people who are addicted to fentanyl stop using, they may experience withdrawal symptoms such as cravings, sweating, runny nose, and yawning, restless sleep or sleep disturbances, weakness, nausea or vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, muscle spasms or bone pain, shivers or goose bumps, and discomfort.

What are fentanyl’s side effects?

Darkened bowel motions, heavy sweating, coughing, chest discomfort, blurry vision, sore throat, shivers, increased thirst, lightheadedness, hurting back or side, tingling in extremities, muscular cramps, mood swings  and tinnitus are all frequent adverse effects of taking prescription fentanyl.

Severe stomach discomfort, lack of muscular coordination,  hallucinations, seizures, body tremors, and irregular heartbeat are a few of the less frequent adverse effects that should always be reported to the prescribing doctor.

Overdose with Fentanyl

When a deadly amount of fentanyl is inadvertently or purposefully consumed, pupils shrink and chilly, sweating skin takes on a blue color. If left untreated, respiration will drop to a hazardous pace (hypoxia), putting the patient at risk of coma, brain damage, and death. If you observe any fentanyl adverse effects, call 911 right away. If administered quickly enough, a drug called Naloxone can reverse a Fentanyl overdose.

What are the Symptoms and Signs of Fentanyl Addiction?

Substance abuse disorders can start with dependency and progress to addiction. Changes in behavior are frequently the first indicators of an opioid use problem. Fentanyl side effects might include feelings of exhilaration, tiredness, or nausea. If patients develop fentanyl withdrawal symptoms, they will have trouble sleeping, eating, and managing their physical discomfort. Compulsive and unpredictable behavior are other signs of fentanyl addiction. Compulsion to pursue the drug, even when personal or professional problems develop, is a typical side effect of substance use disorders.

How does the Fentanyl test works?

The Instant Fentanyl Drug Test Strip is an immunochromatographic test for determining the presence of Fentanyl in a qualitative manner. Only a preliminary analytical test result is provided by this assay. The primary confirmatory approach is gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS).

The Rapid Fentanyl Urine Test Strip is a competitive immunoassay for detecting the presence of fentanyl  in urine. It’s a chromatographic absorbent device that uses a restricted number of drug monoclonal antibody (mouse) conjugate binding sites to competitively combine drugs in a urine sample.

When the test is activated, urine is taken into each test strip by capillary action, mixed with the appropriate drug monoclonal antibody conjugate, and then passed through a pre-coated membrane.

When the drug concentration in the urine sample is less than the test’s detection level, the drug monoclonal antibody conjugate binds to the drug-protein conjugate immobilized in the Test Region (T) of the test Strip. This creates a colored Test line in the Test Region (T) of the strip, which signifies a negative test result regardless of its intensity.

The free drug in the sample binds to the respective drug monoclonal antibody conjugate when the sample drug levels are at or above the detection level of the test, preventing the respective drug monoclonal antibody conjugate from binding to the respective drug-protein conjugate immobilized in the Test Region (T) of the device. This keeps a definite colorful band from forming in the test area, suggesting a preliminary positive result.

If the test was done correctly, a colorful line will emerge in the Control Region (C) of each fentanyl strip to act as a procedural control.

What Does It Mean If A Test Is False Positive?

A false positive test is defined as a situation in which a Fentanyl Test Strip mistakenly identifies a drug. Cross reactants are the most prevalent cause of a false positive result. With this product, some meals and medications, diet plan prescriptions, and nutritional supplements may result in a false positive test result.

What Do You Mean By A False Negative Test?

A false negative test occurs when the first drug is present but the Fentanyl Drug Test Strip fails to detect it. A false negative result might be caused by diluted or contaminated urine specimens.
